Welcome to Fisher College of Business!

I am pleased to welcome you to your College and to a wide range of exciting opportunities. If last year was any indication of what will happen this year, I promise you tons of productive fun.

2009-2010 has been an exciting year! Autumn quarter started very well with the student chapter of the American Marketing Association raising money for the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation through their annual Pancakes for Parkinson’s event. For the second time, they raised over $50,000, one of the highest amounts raised by any student organization in the country.

Toward the end of the Autumn quarter, students from the introductory marketing class presented their promotion plan for American Eagle jeans to the CEO and senior executives at American Eagle headquarters in Pittsburgh. This was a nationwide competition, and the students walked away with the top prize of $5,000. The students also had their pictures and names displayed on the digital display board of the AE store in Times Square, New York, for two days! It is not your typical 15 minutes of fame for Fisher students, right?

Fisher also hosted the Nationwide Fisher Biz Quiz, the only business quiz competition held in the country. Eighteen schools participated this year, and it was a blast as usual. Do you know that there are schools asking us to include them in this competition? For the first time in three years, Fisher was knocked out in the semi-finals, but everyone still had a great time. Finally, in April, the Directors and Deans of Undergraduate Programs from over 30 top schools around the country joined us at Fisher for a conference. They marveled at our facilities, and the quality of our students.

We will continue to offer exciting programs, innovations, and courses that will make your stay at Fisher enjoyable and your career rewarding. Please follow all of our communications so you will know about these opportunities and can take advantage of them. Your academic advisors are always your first stop for any questions you may have. Please make sure that you are in touch with them. Also, take advantage of the peer advisors who are very well tuned into the various events at Fisher and who will be working with you throughout the first year.
