At Fisher, we finish each week on Friday with leadership and professional development workshops and events designed to hone your leadership capabilities and polish your professional skills. We require attendance at foundational workshops and events - beyond that you decide. Opportunities also tend to arise throughout the week and may include lunchtime speakers, evening career development seminars, and networking events, such as the annual alumni dinner or a wine tasting affair.

Hone Your Leadership Skills
Effective leadership requires skills that go beyond academic pursuit. Fisher offers numerous opportunities for you to invest in yourself, develop your leadership abilities, polish your social skills and maximize your professional development.

Launch Your Personal Development
Strong and effective leadership is built on sound "know thyself." Right from the beginning of your MBA program you will have the opportunity to take a self inventory with tests, such as CareerLeader and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, as well as our own internally developed tools.  Expert instructors will then help you interpret and use the results, ultimately leading you to develop clearer perceptions of yourself and your environment. Likewise, you will have access to career inventory assessments that allow you to better define your next steps following your MBA.

Build Career Expertise
While some students know at the beginning of the program which industry they want to join and which functional responsibility they wish to assume upon graduation, the majority still want to explore different career options and opportunities. In addition to Fisher’s professional Career Management team, the LPD program plays a central role in helping students in this search and exploration process.

Network!
Knowing how to network is one of the key building blocks to advancing your career. Consequently, you will have the opportunity to learn about effective and innovative networking approaches from leaders in this field. Moreover, you will have ample opportunity to practice your newly learned skills at a variety of events organized through the college.

Meet Our Speakers
Speakers at Fisher bring opportunities for intellectual discourse, personal interaction, and small-group networking. High-profile business leaders from around the globe come to Fisher to speak about their perspectives on leadership and notable experiences in their professional lives.

 Corporate Mentor Program
The corporate mentor program pairs MBA students and accomplished executives for a nine month time period during which you will gain exposure to the business community, can practice your networking skills, begin developing a network and learn and talk about specific career paths that interest you.

Over 80% of our graduates report that they secured their jobs by working the powerful Fisher College network - something they were able to start in one of our many Leadership & Professional Development networking opportunities.

"I had ample opportunity to explore an investment banking career opportunity at Fisher, even though Columbus is not an investment banking hub. The school organized networking trips to New York, where I interacted with successful alumni on Wall Street. The opportunities presented by Fisher helped me choose a career in investment banking and get an offer before graduation. I strongly believe that the Leadership and Professional Development part of the MBA curriculum played a key role, not only in securing this professional opportunity but also in preparing me for success."
